According to the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) only 12% of high school seniors are proficient in U.S. History. If that number isn’t bad enough, 55% of seniors lack just a basic understanding of U.S. History and only 1% are considered advanced in their knowledge of U.S. History.

Yes, it’s that bad.

We wish we could snap our fingers and fix the disaster that is education in America, but we can’t. Instead, we work our tails off to help young Americans know and understand their heritage.

As a part of our work, on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, The Charlemagne Institute (Intellectual Takeout’s parent organization) is inviting ALL high school and college students who would like to learn more about the founding of our great nation before they go back to school. Below are the details!

Seminar on America’s Founding Principles
by Prof. Jonathan Den Hartog
Tuesday, August 7, 2018

America’s Founding Fathers produced the Constitution, a brilliant document which has guided the nation through 235 years of turbulent history. In this unique summer seminar, Prof. Jonathan Den Hartog will discuss the deep intellectual history which Founders like Madison, Hamilton, and Monroe used to draw up the Constitution. He will then discuss the sharp contrast between the American Revolution and the French Revolution. While the former produced two centuries of stability, the latter resulted in two centuries of unending political turmoil.
