Mike Rowe is famous for bucking the conventional way of thinking when it comes to work, and the following video is no exception. According to Mike, conventional wisdom says that young people should follow their passion when choosing a degree, calling, or life vocation. Instead of following this advice, Mike suggests young people approach the job world in the following way:

“Never follow your passion, but always bring it with you.”

Given the fact that only 30% of Americans say they are engaged in their jobs, it would seem that we have handily ignored Mike Rowe’s advice. But is he on the right track? Would we find greater satisfaction and happiness in our daily tasks if we threw ourselves into them with our whole hearts, rather than pining for the illusive dream job?
